planning project

Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority - VGTM UDA has recently awarded the preparation of master plans and zonal plans project to Geospace Integra. The project consists of the following tasks:

  1. Preparation of Master Plan for newly added area covering 35 villages into the VGTM urban region
  2. Preparation of Zonal Development Plans for 4 zones covering 35 newly added villages and 7 zones for which ZDPs not prepared earlier
  3. Revised Master plan for the entire VGTM urban region

Scope, approach and methodology for each of these planning projects have been attempted separately keeping in view the different context and requirements.

Planning process in brief being employed:

At the outset, for the preparation of plans for these villages, development zones - on the basis of contiguity, population size, transport linkages development status etc -  will be delineated and defined.  On the delineation of the development zones, the development status in respect of all the sectoral developments such as demography, physical characteristics, transport and communication network, infrastructural facilities, housing, land uses (residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, public, semipublic, forest, vacant land etc), soil capability cropping pattern, agricultural economy, occupational structure, income and expenditure, pattern development thrust trend and tendency of the growth, community habit and attitude, environmental aspects, technology intervention, appropriate socio-economic setup for sustainability will be dealt in required detail.  Based on these, village-wise proposals will emerge.

The Master Plan at the zonal level will have the village-wise findings and inferences in all the above said sectors of development analyzed and, an over all growth pattern in the socio, physio-economic atmosphere will be identified. This will culminate in drawing up a "structure plan" or Master Plan, converging into proposed land use plan, with necessary supportive plan proposals and recommendations including regulatory measures and implementation mechanism.  The final output will be in the form of a multi-sectoral investment plan fitted into a time schedule for both short and long term periods.

As an illustrative feature of these plans, maps will be generated basically from the latest high resolution satellite imagery and after the necessary interpretations as required both at the village and areal unit levels.  This will be 100% ground verified for accuracy, dependability and field specific for implementation.

Data and information from all sources through primary surveys and secondary source agencies will be gathered, reconciled and, where necessary, will be properly tallied with the satellite imagery interpretations.  The entire process will be on the interactive version with the client and end users.

The plans will be for a short term of 5 years, and a long term of 20 years.  While the short term proposals mainly include development proposals based on the immediate requirements in terms of services, and corrective measures in the economic activities, the long term plan will develop the vision statement for the next 20 years to be taken up in phases.
