The bespoke application development is aimed at bestowing the utility of spatial data being generated under "Dubai GIS Base Map project" for the Emirate of Dubai. The proposed application takes care of essential factors such as controlled access of Geodatabase, option to modify user privileges and safe sharing of the common database between the two departments namely Dubai Municipality and Land Department, which are the major users of the cadastral database.

The proposed application architecture for Dubai Municipality is based on Microsoft .NET technology using Microsoft.Net Framework, ADO.Net and VB.Net for application development, Arc GIS 8.3/9.0 and ArcObjects for Viewing and Editing using customisation, Arc SDE 8.3/9.0 for storing the spatial and non-spatial data in Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g and managing Geodatabase.

The application resides on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. The client or application user needs Geodatabase Management Application to access the data, there by providing an open architecture environment at the user level, for accessing the application. The user from any location, can access the application either thru Leased Lines or Dialup.

The application is accessible to authorized users only. User gains access into the network through the Firewall, which protect the network from intruders.

This application is integrated with another application called 'Demarcation application' developed on Java platform by Geospace Integra and 'Request Tracking Application' developed by GIS centre at Dubai Municipality.

The project is undergoing UAT and is expected to 'go live' in couple of weeks.
